How clear aligners work
Clear aligners are a series of thin, custom-made trays that gently move your teeth a little at a time. You switch to a new set roughly every one to two weeks, and each one is nearly invisible and removable — so you can eat, brush, and floss exactly as normal. Before you start, we take a quick digital scan and show you a preview of your projected result, so you know exactly where you’re headed.
Straighter teeth aren’t only about looks. Crowded or misaligned teeth are harder to keep clean and can wear unevenly over time, so alignment is often the most conservative way to protect a smile long-term — and it can mean less cosmetic work later.
Planned by Dr. Shantall
Dr. Shantall Di Loreto focuses on clear-aligner treatment and completed orthodontic training through Progressive Orthodontics. She plans each case around your bite and long-term health, and works alongside Dr. Dillon so every case gets two perspectives: her eye for alignment and his restorative eye for the finish.
Because Dr. Shantall plans a high volume of aligner cases, we earn better case pricing from our labs — and pass those savings on to you, so you get doctor-planned aligners at an honest price rather than a brand-name markup.
Why we use Spark™ Clear Aligners
We use Spark Clear Aligners, made by Ormco, a company with 60 years of experience in orthodontics. We chose Spark for three reasons:
- Clearer and more stain-resistant. Spark trays are made from Ormco’s TruGEN™ material, which Ormco designed to be clearer and to stain less than the leading aligner brand — so they stay discreet throughout treatment.
- Comfortable to wear. The edges are polished and scalloped for a smoother feel, and the material is free of BPA, latex, and phthalates.
- More control over how each tooth moves. TruGEN is designed to hold steady, consistent force for predictable movement. Spark’s 3D planning software lets Dr. Shantall check root positions and your bite at each stage, compare more than one plan, and bring in CBCT 3D imaging — so your plan is built around your whole bite, not just how the front teeth look.
Spark aligners are manufactured in the U.S. and work the same basic way as other clear aligners: you wear each set about 22 hours a day and switch every one to two weeks.
Clear aligners vs. braces
| Clear aligners | Braces | |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Nearly invisible | Visible brackets (metal or clear ceramic) |
| Removable? | Yes — for meals & photos | No — fixed on |
| Depends on you wearing it? | Yes, 20–22 hours a day | No |
| Complex movements | Great for most cases | Often better for the hardest cases |
| Hygiene | Easy — take them out to brush | Extra care around brackets |
| Best for | Adults & teens who’ll wear them | Complex bites; teens who won’t comply |
We offer both. If braces are the better tool for your case, see braces in Coral Springs.
Who clear aligners are right for
Aligners work well for most common concerns in teens and adults — crowding, spacing, mild-to-moderate bite issues, and relapse after old braces. They’re an especially good fit if you want something discreet and easy to keep clean, and you can commit to wearing them.
- Complex bite problems — severe crowding, large skeletal discrepancies, or significant rotations sometimes move faster and more predictably with braces. We’d rather say so than fit you to the wrong tool.
- If you won’t wear them 20–22 hours a day — aligners only work while they’re in. If compliance will be hard, we’ll talk it through up front.
- Untreated decay or gum disease — we get the foundation healthy before moving teeth.
Timeline & what it’s really like
- Complimentary consult & digital scan. We listen to what you want to change and scan your teeth — no goopy impressions.
- Your digital preview. See your projected result and timeline, with an itemized price, before you commit.
- Start your aligners. Switch to a new set roughly every one to two weeks; expect mild pressure for a day or two with each new set.
- Periodic check-ins. Short visits to confirm everything is tracking as planned.
- Retention. A retainer keeps your new smile in place — teeth drift without one.
Most cases run from a few months to about 18 months, depending on how far the teeth need to move.

What clear aligners cost
The cost depends on your case — how much movement your smile needs and how long you’re in treatment. What you get is laid out plainly up front: your digital scan and smile preview, your aligners, and your check-in visits along the way. Many patients spread treatment into comfortable monthly payments through financing, and we can walk you through insurance, financing, and our in-house membership plan.
Common misconceptions
- “Aligners are just cosmetic.” Straighter teeth are easier to clean and healthier long-term.
- “All aligner brands are the same.” Materials and planning software differ — and the plan behind the aligners matters most. A dentist who understands your whole bite plans differently than a mail-order kit.
- “Once they’re straight, they stay straight.” Teeth drift without a retainer — retention is part of the plan.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Medically reviewed for accuracy by Dr. Shantall Di Loreto, DDS · Updated September 2026 · Editorial policy.
How much do clear aligners cost in Coral Springs?
It depends on how much movement your smile needs and how long you're in treatment. We quote it plainly at your complimentary consult, with your digital preview, and offer financing and an in-house membership plan. Because Dr. Shantall treats a high volume of aligner cases, we earn better case pricing from our labs and pass those savings on to you.
Do you offer Invisalign?
We use Spark Clear Aligners by Ormco instead. Spark and Invisalign work the same basic way, but we chose Spark for its TruGEN material, which is designed to be clearer, more comfortable, and more stain-resistant, and for planning software that gives Dr. Shantall detailed control over how each tooth moves.
Do Spark aligners stain?
Spark's TruGEN material is designed to resist staining. To keep them clear, take your aligners out to eat or drink anything except cool water, and brush before putting them back in.
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
Most cases run from a few months to about 18 months, depending on how far the teeth need to move. You see your projected timeline before you start and switch to a new set roughly every one to two weeks.
Are clear aligners really invisible?
Nearly — they're clear and custom-fit, so most people won't notice you're wearing them.
Will aligners affect my speech?
Maybe for a day or two as you adjust — then most people forget they're in.
How many hours a day do I need to wear them?
About 22 hours a day. Aligners only move teeth while they're in, so you take them out just to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush.
Do I need a retainer afterward?
Yes. Teeth naturally drift without a retainer, so retention is part of every aligner plan.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer flexible monthly payment plans and an in-house membership plan, and we'll show you the exact monthly figure for your case before you commit.
